Excerpt from A Manual of Chemistry: Containing a Condensed View of the Present State of the Science, With Copious References to More Extensive Treatises, Original Papers, &C In this edition I have adhered to the original plan of the work, which was to set forth in a concise and perspicuous manner the principal facts of the science to which it is devot ed; and at the same time to furnish the student with such references to other works and memoirs as may give direction to his inquiries in cases of doubt or difficulty. In the revision of this volume, I have constantly consulted the latest editions of the elaborate treatises of Berzelius, The nard, Thomson and Henry; and of the smaller, though not less valuable ones, of Brande and Turner. I should state, however, that the work of Dr. Turner has been used more freely than any other, and may in some respects be considered the basis of the present Manual. Very Good. Third edition. Very good minus hardcover. Full speckled calf leather binding. Spine label missing. There is a three inch diameter roughly circular dark stain on the front cover at the top left corner going down towards the center of the front board. Light wear to the edges, top and bottom of the spine and corners. The text block has a water stain at the top left corner which affects most of the pages in the book but less so towards the back. The stain does not affect the readability of the text. Otherwise the text is in very good condition with the exception of light foxing to some pages.
