There's both good and bad things to say about this book. Let's start with the bad and get that over with. First of all the book is quite old, therefore some of the vocabulary and expressions ARE old-fashioned (most are not, of-course).Secondly, the layout is quite messy in my opinion. Well thats all about the bad things, lets look at the good; the first half of the book shows the pronounciation for all the sentences, which is very good for self-learners who don't have access to any audio material, the grammar is explained very well and I thought the exercises were very effective too: mostly translations though, which I prefer. Now, there's one thing about the book that not everyone will like: it is filled with 1920's-50's drawings and photos. My own mental image of France is that of old buildings and traditions, so I wasn't bothered by these.
