Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a lovely gift to every Harry Potter fan out there who has hoped and waited a long time to see their wizard friends again.
The best thing about this #8 Harry Potter is how nostalgic it makes the reader feel. There are plenty of familiar faces - Harry, Ginny, Draco, Hermione, Ron, Dumbledore, etc - as well as some interesting new ones - Albus, Rose, Scorpius, Lily, James.

Harry Potter: FINALLY! An encore...
Gets 4 stars cause its Harry Potter and jk Rowling is kind of awesome but I was being generous. I mean it's great, entertaining and it takes us back to the magical world but it had more potential than it achieved. By all means, read it and you'll be entertained in all the right ways but don't expect the "fix" the original series achieved. I won't get into details about the characters or the plot but I will say Harry and the group are all adults and the transition from where we left him at the end of the last installment (excluding the ending on platform 9 3/4 when he's getting his kids on the train... which didn't give us much perspective regarding the adult version of our hero; I know I still had a mostly mental image of the characters as they had been... idk read it. Maybe you'll agree it's fun but we jump from the characters we knew to who they became in a flash. Like a sister or an old friend, it can be difficult to see the person as anything but the person we knew- even after life and experience alter them. I could never see Harry w anything but understanding and that extends to his kids to a degree (because he raised them). Ficticious characters or not, I believe that I would stand behind Harry, Hermione and Ron even if i knew they were At fault.
