I'm a perennial chess beginner (a circa 1800 player). I like reading chess books for enjoyment and in the remote hope that my playing level will improve. This book felt a little short on both regards. This is why: The games selected are shown without mentioning what opening is being played. This may not be necessary for more advanced players, but for people at my level it is sometimes difficult to figure that out, particularly if the position has been arrived at by transposition. A small detail perhaps, but one that will make the book more user friendly. Second, some games are truncated; no end game, just a note like: " and white/black went on to win." It would not take that much extra space to include the whole game, and this will help the fun part of replaying the games in question. A good book, but the next edition could be better.
