In 1842.93, Otto Struve noted the principal star as "perhaps elongated." In 1844.91 he suspected a companion at a distance of 1."2, but later concluded that the star was single and rejected it as such in forming the revised edition of the Pulkowa Catalogue in 1850. In 1859, Secchi thought the star single, or at most he had only a suspicion of a companion in 220. High. ton has reported his failure to see the companion in 1889. Romberg saw it easily in 1875 with the Pulkowa meridian circle. Secchi (Catalogo di /J.?/ Stelle Doppie, 17)... Burnham (Mem. R. A. S., XLJV, 201, 230)... Perrotin (A. N., 2684, 2749; Annals Nice Obsy., II, B. 57, 115)... Highton (Mem. R. A. S., LI, 269)... 1 Very little if any change. Madler has published a measure as follows: 1845.97 228.1.. 1n Uncer1ain It is possible that this may be a misprint for 328.1. In 1873 Dembowski suspected the principal star to be a close double, the direction of the apparent elongation being 173.8. In the following year he obtained two settings for the angle, giving 45.6. In 1875 the star appeared single under good conditions, which caused him to doubt the correctness of his previous results. Subsequent observers do not appear to have noticed any indication of duplicity in this star. On 1900.743 I examined the star with the 36-inch refractor, particularly to see if I could detect any evidence of its being a close pair. The conditions were excellent. With powers to 1500 the star appeared single. Madler (Dorpat Observations, XIII, 67)... Burn. ham (Mem. R. A. S., XLVII, 234)... Smith and Seabroke (Mem. R. A. S., L, 8)... No change in relative position. According to Newco...
