If you have an interest in the engineering history of the Merlin engine and jet engines up to and including Concorde's Olympus, then this magnificent biography of one of the principal architects offers a fascinating insight into the development and manufacture of early jets up to engines in use today. The book includes some fundamental equations (Hooker's Cookers!) that are a model of clarity and simplicity and are as valid today as they were when he wrote them. The book is an absolute gem.
