"Patterns From Your Favourite Clothes" is a collection of ideas, which show how, with the right adjustments, an old favourite can be turned into a fashionable new item for your wardrobe. It illustrates how to take patterns from your clothes and how to adapt them to a new image, changing length and silhouette and adding collars and pockets. The author has chosen seven basic garments. For each garment a set of style variations has been included, specially selected to illustrate simple pattern cutting techniques and some imaginative ways of using fabrics. The final section of the book concentrates on cowls, drapes and darted styles, showing how to reproduce patterns from them. All the techniques illustrated are designed to be within easy reach of the inexperienced pattern cutter and can be applied, as well, to commercial patterns. Martin Shoben has spent 15 years in the clothing industry as a pattern cutter designer and has been a moderator for BTEC and a consultant in industry. He is co-author of "Pattern Cutting and Making Up".
