The proceedings include the contributions of leading researchers from Europe, Japan and the USA. Several papers report the exciting progress made in understanding how tumor promoters act at the cellular and biochemical levels. Elsewhere attention is focused on tumor promotion as an important phase in the occurrence of certain human tumors.
