The scriptures contain over forty prophesies regarding the latter day restoration of the gospel in America and the second coming of the Savior. There is no need to "spin" these prophecies, they are actually very clear. As of this date, all but five of them have been fulfilled and the remaining five are eminent. The scriptures contain over forty prophesies regarding the latter day restoration of the gospel in America and the second coming of the Savior. There is no need to "spin" these prophecies, they are actually very clear. As of this date, all but five of them have been fulfilled and the remaining five are eminent. In the October 2013 Ensign, President Monson made it clear that with the missionary surge, we have now entered the "hastening of the work" prophecy contained in Doctrine and Covenants 88: 73. The ensuing verses (74 - 91) graphically describe the next event, known as "the fulfillment of the day of the gentiles." This will be a time when the world continues to destabilize, resulting in the missionaries being called home and the judgements of God immediately fall upon the wicked world. These verses describe devastating earth quakes, tempests, tsunamis and mass destruction. Other scriptures call this "The Day of the Lord," "The Great and Dreadful Day of the Lord" and/or "The Cleansing." On the day of 9/11, President Hinckley proclaimed ..".the earth will be cleansed and there will be indescribable distress." What is to become of the righteous during this period? Throughout history, the Lord's pattern has been to move his covenant people to places of refuge (i.e. Abraham, the children of Israel, the Brother of Jared, Lehi's family and the pioneer saints). The scriptures are replete with revelations regarding "fleeing to the mountains." While this certainly refers to the multiple meanings of the saints fleeing to the Rocky Mountains and to the temples, visions given to Brigham Young and John Taylor add another level of meaning as they saw people fleeing to the "tops of the mountains" to escape the destruction. In this regard, the Rocky Mountains are truly unique. Not only are they a tremendous fortress and a beautiful sanctuary, but they have plentiful resources and represent the only large area of habitable land in America that has not been populated...all located adjacent to the world headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This is not a coincidence. Our dear leaders have counseled us to face the uncertain future with faith rather than fear. The apostle Paul taught us that "faith without works is dead." In addition to confirming the prophecies, Sacred Places of Refuge provides the "works" of conducting a resource assessment of the Rockies, reviewing community organizational strategies, identifying equipment and subsistence skills that will be needed and goes as far as providing checklists and packing lists. Working in conjunction with the Heartland Farms website, this book provides the foundation for creating a "virtual community" of righteous and joyful people equipped to accomplish whatever the Lord would have us do in preparing for the coming cleansing, followed by building the New Jerusalem and ushering in of the second coming of our Lord and Savior.
