Morris is a country girl at heart, and aside from the closing instrumental "No Regrets" these are good old-fashioned country-folk tunes very much in the style of the "back to basics" wing of the '70s singer/songwriter brigade, those folks who moved to Boulder or Vermont to get their heads together outside of the corrupting influence of the cities. Morris is not particularly crunchy-granola in her personal outlook, however: rather than terribly earnest tunes about the importance of organic farming and not clubbing baby seals, Morris specializes in slice of life tunes like the celebration of radio "Play It Loud" and the small-town character study "Garage Sale." Morris has a plain but inviting soprano and little interest in over-decorating her songs with trills or other showy embellishments, and her acoustic guitar playing is similarly subtle. ~ Stewart Mason, Rovi
