Kollar's basic premise in this book is that in order to be effective as pastoral counselors, we need to place the focus on finding solutions to people's problems instead of focusing on the problem itself. This means that the counseling sessions are geared toward figuring out how to fix the problem, not necessarily on analyzing the problem. Kollar also believes that most problems can be resolved with a short-term plan: 4-6 meetings.
Overall, I'm a bit skeptical of this sort of counseling model, but I can see how it would be very effective for pastoral (not clinical) counseling. An interesting, practical, and enjoyable read!
