Seller's Description:
Very Good. No Jacket. Size: 4to-over 9.75"-12" tall; A very attractive, albeit lightly soiled 1st edition hardcover in burgundy cloth with a taupe linen backstrip sporting bright gold titles along with an illustration of 8 vertical lines ruled in gold. Burgundy cloth covered boards with taupe linen fabric over the book's spine, makes up this quarter bound hardcover showing one inkless, embossed stamped emblem on rear cover, is lightly soiled, lower front tip has color loss and upper front tip has been bumped with boards showing. Owner name is stamped on FEP. 318 pages are tight and crisp with an occasional foxing dot here or there in the margins of the text. No tears, not exlib. A marvelous candidate for a night in by the fire, reading up on the adventures *plus and minus* of yesteryears brothers and sisters of the field. Sport, often of a somewhat rough description, was the life-long occupation of a large number of people, and not infrequently the meaning of the term was stretched to include much that would to-day seem un-alluring, if not positively brutal.
