Power analysis is of critical importance in statistics. While Cohen wrote this book long ago, the emphasis of the majority of case studies is still on significance testing, minimizing errors of type I, neglecting error of type II, and neglecting the size of the effect rather than focusing on the significance of the effect. Cohen's book is on power, so on the errors of type II, but it also makes important statements of the size of the effect. This message should be stressed again and again, unfortunately after so many years.
