There is no need to elaborate on the contents of this book here; many scholars have already done an admirable job discrediting the so-called research of Drs. Herrnstein and Murray in well-regarded anthologies. The very notion of race has no scientific basis whatsoever - it is entirely a human construct, and a very inhumane one at that (one that was discredited well over a half century ago!). Second, the validity IQ tests, on which the authors base most of their data, have been increasingly questioned in pedagogical and psychological circles; in the early 1980s, the use of IQ tests were declared by the Supreme Court unconstitutional - that is, outlawed - as the sole determinant of human intelligence. Third, consider who funded much of the research - among the groups was the unabashedly racist Pioneer Fund. Readers would be much better advised to read the critical studies of "The Bell Curve" before embarking on this volume.
