In purchasing this audiobook (at full price) I focused too much on "what makes things funny" in the subtitle and too little on "a global search for". The focus, to the extent that there is one, is indeed on the journey. The book moves through some discussion of theory, examples of empirical research, interviews, live stand up, descriptions of the many travel experiences, and name dropping, with lots of personal reflection, and self congratulation along the way, not in any particular order. It is essentially a long diary in need of an editor. Finally, the narrator is VERY difficult to listen to -- too much "attitude" in his voice. I stayed with it to the end, hoping it would get better but it did not.
