McConnell's knowledge of dogs is fascinating. Unlike most of the dog-training books I've read (with a new dog, i've been reading a lot of them) it was like reading a story yet, learning so much along the way. Observations of her own dogs & stories of clients she's helped with their own dog behaviour stories can be related to by any dog owner/lover. I highly recommend this book.

Respect for dogs.
Anybody considering keeping a dog should
learn at least a little about how a dog's mind works; the more you learn, the better your dog will respond to you.
There are many books available but, in my view, this one is way out in front. Patricia McConnell has a true gift for communication and an eminently readable style; even as a 'stand alone' this book is a good read - I learned a bit about relation ships in general along the way. Highly recommended.

Excellent Read
This book has a mountain of information that is extremely helpful in closing the gap between human and canine communication. I love Patricia's wit and way with words, making it so easy to understand why we act the way we do with our dogs, and how dogs perceive the world around them.
