A well presented distillation of the best thoughts anfd theories about catching trout written in the past four hundred years. I agreed with almost every word, but would not have had the ability to write them so well. Highly recommended for the thinking flyfisher.

Informative and Entertaining
After reading this book I find it very entertaining as well as informative. Mr. Wyatt gives some personal information as to why and how he started in fly fishing. I found this interesting since a lot of the same things that influenced him influenced me. In addition, Mr. Wyatt is well versed in fly fishing in many places the world over, even in the USA. He adequately covers fishing still water and moving water as well. The treasure of fly patterns reflect his experience. Their design and dressing, illustrated by photos done by Hans Weilenmann, punctuate the literature and add great depth to the writing. Mr Wyatt's theories concerning fly dressing and why trout take certain flies over others is something every fly fisherman should ponder. Approaching the trout as predator reveals a new and interesting approach to both fishing flies and how they are designed. One read of this book is not enough. I highly suggest it to anyone that wishes to be entertained and educated. It's treasures are many, and I feel it will become a classic in a short time. It should be added to the library of any thinking fly angler.
