Well, 10% of the book is qualifying statements, "I know it sounds crazy, but ..." And maybe 10% of the book is just pure speculation: "As our population grows, theirs must grow to maintain the same level of control." (Which I thought was absurd, given human trends towards dictatorships. There was only one Stalin, remember, and he controlled millions for a long time.)
The other 80% is pretty good.
Surprisingly, he's not really aware of the broader field. I would have thought that an abduction researcher was at least familiar with UFO trends. Oh, I don't know, perhaps a book by Marhsall Vian Summers called, "Allies of Humanity", in which he tells us why (he thinks) the aliens are so interested in our planet. (Resource curse.)
Even so, the author just kept going, "Why? Why? ... but why? ... I don't understand why?" without even offering the speculation that they come from barren worlds, having despoiled their biological diversity in the same way we are despoiling ours, and are here to take our ecosystem from us before we have a chance to ruin it, as they did.
He didn't even point to popular culture that offers the same concept. Hm, "They're like locusts, going from one planet to the next, consuming their natural resources" (Independence Day). And, of course, V, the TV series, in which it's water that they're taking from us.
Actually, to be perfectly fair, he does speculate that maybe they are here for some material wealth, perhaps some elements on the periodic table that we are not aware of that they can get more easily here -- but nothing like, "Wow, look at that cuttlefish! I bet they don't have that we're YOU'RE from you insectid!" So he gets partial credit.
And he redefines terms. Insectid not insectoid, reptids not reptillians, hubrids not hybrids. I didn't see the point of it. These terms are already pretty common among people who read this type of book.
Last but not least, he glosses over the fact that humans already have natural psychic abilities. It is almost as if there was no such thing as a human mind or soul, because he credits every preternatural thing that the aliens to do "neuropathy." Man, that part was hard to swallow. I refer you to Carlos Castañeda's Don Juan in which Don Juan has the ability to calm CC with his eyes. I refer you also to Lynn Buchanan, in which he remote views a scene in which the aliens calm down a general under President Eisenhower who freaks out when the aliens say that "God is the same for us as He is for you." (Wait, that's not about human abilities, though.)
"Whoa! He calms him down JUST BY LOOKING AT HIM!" (emphasis mine).
It wouldn't be fair to call him provincial, but it would be fair to say his focus is pretty narrow alright.
Other than that, a good read, and easy, as well as important.
