Nancy E. Marchand-Martella is a professor of special education at Eastern Washington Uiliversity, teaching classes in academic remediation with a focus on reading, writing, spelling, and math interventions. She has over 25 years of experience working with at-risk populations and provides technical assistance to numerous states as part of Reading First and Basic Tutorial Credentialing initiatives. Marchand-Martella has 128 publications, including 5 textbooks, 10 chapters/contributions or manuals, 81 refereed journal articles, and 22 reports/non-refereed articles/instructional products and serves on the editorial board of three peer-reviewed journals. She consults on the development of effective reading programs for students in grades K-12 and has served or continues to serve as a Reading First grant reviewer, Reading First panel member for the selection of core / supplemental / intervention reading programs for students in grades K-3 and 4-12, advisory board member for OSPI's higher education reading partnership, and member of the K-12 Reading Advisory Panel.
