Suzanne Thompson lives with her husband in the mountains of North Carolina where they own a bookstore and are active supporters of the Friends of the Library. Suzanne got the idea to write about Winston Churchill when they were touring the WWI battlefields in Belgium and came across a plaque of Churchill in Ploegsteert, where he was posted in 1916 as Commanding Officer of the 6th Battalion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers. Winston Churchill's true life adventures took him all around the world as a soldier, war correspondent, politician and artist. Deciding to follow in the footsteps of Churchill, the following year Suzanne and her husband went to England to visit the village of Camberley and were granted access to the archives at the Military College at Sandhurst.
