This is a great book to have on hand for those who have been diagnosed with Celiac Disease or who are going Gluten Free. The chapters are sectioned off in an unusual, but useful way; it's sections are "Milestones" and chapters are in days, weeks and months.
The book starts out explaining about the disease, the difference between an allergy, gluten intolerance and celiac disease, and discusses steps that need to be taken to eat safely. It then goes on to discuss topics of eating out, going to parties, managing a normal life for children with CD, dating with CD, holidays, discussing CD with family and friends, some recipes to get you started, tips for baking and some of the science behind it to grasp the understanding needed to alter recipes or experiment.
The author has CD, and it's reassuring to know as you read that she has experienced being sick, the ups and downs of being misdiagnosed, finding out and learning to alter habits and routines to accommodate and isn't just someone writing about it based on others accounts about the disease. It's great to have handy in the kitchen as well.
