It is about time that we can begin to understand about women in war. There are so many women who have been forgotten for their heroic efforts and contributions serving in the military during war time. This book provides a fantastic story of three different women and their personal experiences in the Philippines during the Japanese occupation. Their endurance during horrific conditions and treatment as they attempted to survive and their continued dedication to helping sick and injured service men and civilians while prisoners of war themselves. So hard to believe they were left behind by the US high command evacuating when General MacArthur left the Philippines, along with the rest of the soldiers to be captured and imprisoned by the Japanese. To learn of the cruelty and suffering they endured by the Japanese soldiers is hard to believe. This book will be hard to put down.
