I read Kelly Turner's first book (Radical Remission, that I'd also recommend) so I looked forward to the follow-up. When I read her first, I realized I had already practiced the nine points she found in common in those people who survived their cancers without AMA-style medical treatment (or those who have vastly outlived their prognoses). Ms. Turner is correct about the tenth point brought up here, and one understands how it could be overlooked, or rather, kind of "invisible."
The author has brought much more scientific information backing up the ten actions/strategies that survivors have in common, as many more studies are available now. It seems the AMA-style medicine I found so totally narrow-minded has opened up somewhat since my diagnosis 12 years ago. You can feel more confidence in realizing that you have a LOT of control over what you do in response to a cancer diagnosis. The stories from the survivors themselves (in both books) show that there might be many different specific tactics, but getting active in your own treatment and STAYING active in your own decisions is paramount.
So buckle up! It's a great read, and an important book.
