"From Savannah to Yorktown" outlines the major battles and personalities of the Revolutionary War in the South. Henry Lumpkin also provides an interpretation as to why the British lost the war in the South. The British were willing to use Native Americans against the rebellious colonists. This practice, as well as the brutalities committed by British Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton against the colonists caused them to feel infuriated against the British. Finally, the British overestimated the number of Loyalists who would flock to their aid. I especially enjoyed the chapters on Francis Marion (the "Swamp Fox") and Daniel Morgan. Includes a useful chronology and appendix. Ideal for teachers of American history or for those wanting to know more about this crucial aspect of the conflict that gave birth to the United States.
