The world of art is a big one. As a former artist myself, I gleaned a lot from this book and enjoyed reading it even though I don�t produce anymore. So even a retired artist can get a lot from the interesting things James has to say and how she works. This is one of those art books you wish you�d read before your first art class, or when you were first starting out. The advice isn�t just theory, it�s practice. You can actually put this good advice to work in your daily pursuit of an art career.
The images are a great tie-in for you to visit and revisit, and you can pick and choose which activities are best suited for you. The music and fashion are a nice surprise, too. This isn�t a one-size-fits-all artists kind of approach. You are encouraged to find your own style but try new ones to add to your portfolio. Self-confidence, growth, and joy are what art is all about. It�s okay if art is your hobby instead of your career, but if you want to make a career out of art, this book can provide a great foundation.
